How to Play HiLo Lucky Step

Set Your Bet
Open HiLo Lucky Step and set your stake for the round. Altente Gaming doesn't publish a bet range for this game — the minimum and maximum come from your casino and are listed on the game's own info screen. Whatever you set is locked once the round starts, so pick it before you touch a bet button.
Look at the Starting Card
Each round opens with a single card face-up in the centre. That card is your anchor: a low one leaves more of the deck above it, a high one leaves more below, and a card near the middle leaves the call closest to a coin flip. You don't have to work the odds out yourself — the game prices them onto the buttons.
Pick a Bet Type
Five main bets. Higher and Lower call the rank of the next card against the centre one, Equal calls it matching exactly, and Red and Black bet on colour instead. Each button displays the payout multiplier you'll receive if that call comes in, so the cheap guess and the long shot are never confused. Clicking any main bet starts the round automatically, and it can't be changed until the round ends.
Watch the Pot Build
A correct call pays into a pot rather than straight into your balance. Get the next one right and the pot grows again. Get it wrong and the pot is gone and the round is over — Altente Gaming's rules put it exactly that bluntly. The 2,153x figure Altente publishes is the ceiling on how far a single round can go.
Collect at the Right Time
At any step you can take the pot and end the round on your terms, and there's a take-half button if you'd rather bank part of it and keep playing. This is the only genuine decision in the game, and it's the reason two players at 96% RTP can have completely different sessions. Decide the pot you'd be happy with before the round starts, not while it's sitting in front of you.
Consider the Side Bets
Side Bets is Altente Gaming's listed special function for this game, and there are three. Straight backs the next three cards forming consecutive ranks in any order — 6-7-5 counts just like 5-6-7. Flush backs three of the same suit. 777 backs any three sevens. You set their stake yourself in the Side Bets menu, none are compulsory, and they pay on their own terms without touching the main pot.

Higher, Lower or Equal
One card sits face-up in the centre. Bet that the next one comes out higher, lower, or exactly the same rank. Each button carries its own quoted multiplier, so you can see what a call is worth before you make it.
Collect or Keep Going
Here’s what makes it tick — a correct call pays into a pot, and you then choose whether to keep playing the round with that pot at stake or collect it and finish. Get the next card wrong and the pot is lost. That tension is the whole game.
Side Bets: Straight, Flush, 777
Altente’s Side Bets function backs three-card outcomes starting from the current card: three consecutive ranks in any order, three of one suit, or three sevens. You set the stake for these yourself in the Side Bets menu.
Red or Black
Not every call has to be about rank. Red and Black bet on the colour of the next card instead — a different way to keep a round alive when the centre card sits awkwardly in the middle of the deck.
Quick Strategy Tips
Read the button, not the card. The multiplier printed on each bet is the game telling you how it rates that call against the cards left in the deck. When the centre card sits near the top or bottom, one side is cheap and the other is expensive. That spread is the only real information in front of you, and it is free.
Know the RTP. Altente Gaming publishes 96% for this game and repeats it on the in-game info screen — a 4% house edge, which is on the friendly side for a casino game. Check it there before you stake at a new casino rather than trusting a figure from anywhere else.
Collect discipline beats prediction skill. Every card is an independent draw, so there is nothing to out-guess. What you actually control is when the round ends. Pick the pot you would be happy to walk away with before the first card, and let the take-half button do the arguing when you are tempted to push.
Budget side bets separately. Straight, Flush and 777 pay on their own terms and do nothing to protect the main pot. Give them their own small allowance if you want the extra action, and keep that allowance out of the money you set aside for the main game.
